VISION:

To provide accessible, safe, and high-quality health care services that are responsive to the needs of our catchment municipalities such as Balindong, Tugaya, Bacolod-Kalawi, Madamba, Madalum and Ganassi and Nearby communities through compassionate, God-fearing, patient-centered, and family-focused care. Guided by the Universal Health Care mandate, committed to professional excellence, ethical service, and continuous improvement in every aspect of healthcare delivery.

MISSION:

A resilient government hospital in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), committed to excellence in quality health care, where every resident of our catchment municipalities and neighboring communities enjoy better health and well-being without financial hardship.

Driven by a deep-seated commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Bangsamoro people, the Citizen’s Charter Handbook of Balindong District Hospital serves as a comprehensive roadmap for elevating healthcare services to higher levels of quality, efficiency, and accessibility. It underscores the hospital’s dedication to ensuring that every member of the community—regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic status—has access to the healthcare services they need and deserve.

Prior to its transformation into Balindong District Hospital (BDH), the institution was known as Balindong Municipal Hospital (BMH), a facility with a long and meaningful history in the Municipality of Balindong and the wider province of Lanao del Sur. The hospital was inaugurated in 1983 under the visionary leadership of Dr. Alibasher Lucman as a modest 10-bed municipal health facility. Over the years, BMH steadily evolved into a primary hospital, supported by a dedicated workforce of approximately 40 employees, including both field-based and hospital-based personnel. Through their commitment and service, the hospital became a vital pillar of healthcare delivery in the area.

By 1986, Balindong Municipal Hospital was designated as the official referral hospital for the Balindong District Health System, serving six (6) municipalities: Balindong, Tugaya, Bacolod-Kalawi, Madalum, Madamba, and Ganassi. The nearest tertiary health institution, Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC), is located approximately 14.7 kilometers away. For decades, the hospital has played a critical role in providing services to walk-in patients and facilitating referrals from surrounding communities.

The concept of a nearest tertiary health facility—a center equipped with specialized services delivered by trained medical experts—highlights the importance of a functional and efficient referral system. Effective referrals contribute to improved health outcomes, reduced complications, and strengthened healthcare delivery. Balindong District Hospital’s consistent coordination of patient transfers to APMC and other tertiary facilities in Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City, despite geographic and logistical challenges, underscores its vital role in ensuring seamless continuity of care and optimized patient pathways within the regional healthcare system.

Throughout its history, the hospital has been guided by several respected physicians who served as Chiefs of Hospital or Officers-in-Charge. These include Dr. Thelma P. Virtucio, Dr. Mashiding M. Lomandong, Dr. Baimona D. Dalidig (OIC), Dr. Marlene P. Decampong (OIC), Dr. Asnawi R. Dalidig (OIC), Dr. Alinader D. Minalang (OIC), Dr. Datumanong L. Domado (OIC), and currently Dr. Datumanong L. Domado, who officially assumed the position of Chief of Hospital in November 2024.

A significant milestone in the hospital’s development was achieved in July 2024, when Balindong Municipal Hospital was officially approved for upgrading to Balindong District Hospital, under the leadership of Acting Chief of Hospital Dr. Alinader D. Minalang. This upgrade marked a major advancement in the hospital’s capacity to serve the community and reflects its continued growth and unwavering commitment to providing more comprehensive, responsive, and enhanced healthcare services to a broader population.
